Breaking Free Ministries
Breaking Free Ministries is a wonderful organization that is bringing the word of God to those unfortunate who for whatever reason, find themselves in prison. In this day and age almost all of us either know someone or even have a family member that needs the word and these are the the people that can reach their hearts and souls where it is almost impossible for us to do so. This organization does not make excuses for those who have committed crimes, instead they offer them hope. The promise that Jesus came to redeem all! Please do take time to check them out and if you can offer support of any kind it will be greatly appreciated. You can contact them at Assemblies of God U.S. Missions, 1445 N. Boonville Ave., Springfield, MO 65802-1894; Tel: 417.862.9734 or email: AGUSFINANCE@AG.ORG ; From Pastor Scott Long:
“To open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the prison, those who sit in darkness from the prison house.”
As we come to the end of the year, Sheryl and Iwould like to say “Thank You“for your
faithful prayers and financial support. We couldn’t do the ministrythat God has called us
to without them.
It has been a great year for the ministry; wehave consistently signed up around 300 new
students each month, graded on theaverage of 400 papers a week and had around a 90%
return ratio with thelessons. As of December 15th we have received 705 salvation messages
from ourstudents and we have over 3300 active students enrolled in the
discipleshipprogram. We have close to 40 volunteers that help with this ministry.
We are excited about the doors that God hasopened for this ministry. In October I began
teaching the first course in thediscipleship course in Greene County Jail and will continue
teaching the other17 courses in the jail next year. I have also been invited in to a prison
unitin Arkansas next year, to teach the first Christian Life course that will getthe inmates
started going on the course work.
We had a couple of sad things happen this yearas well. In June one of our faithful
volunteer graders, Jack Evans passed away.He was a very good friend to Sheryl and me. In
August my mother, Marilyn passedaway after a 13 month battle with pancreatic cancer.
We know where they are andwhile we miss them we rejoice that they are with Jesus.
We pray that you have a very Merry Christmas anda blessed and joyous New Year!
Your Missionariesto America’s prisons,
Scott and Sheryl
Jesus called us to go to the prisons; He said in Matthew 25: 36
“I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me.” (NKJV)
From their website:
To reach and save inmates with the word of God minsitered through the power of the Holy Spirit.
To partner with churches to minister to the families of the inmates to create a better home life for the inmate when they are released.
To disciple inmates so that they can reach people that are unreachable in a normal church setting.
